The type of idea we’re looking for is an idea that could, potentially, become a business.
Each week we invest $5,000 in two ideas. One is chosen by Start Garden. The other is the one with the most endorsements from the general public. We want to invest in what you like.

$20,000, a project.
Each $5,000 idea has about two months to do something interesting. Then you must return in person to give an update at a public event.
Your update informs the Start Garden team if your project is ready for $20,000.

$50,000 - $500,000 a startup.
The Start Garden team watches the projects closely, and decides whether or not to extend investment. Our philosophy is to always invest in the next step.
At this level, we work with you to make arrangements to spend some time in Grand Rapids with our team and taking advantage of the city’s resources.
