BARK! Microstudios

An affordable green-screen studio designed for the expansive way video is being used on the web. barkmicrostudios.com

What's the big idea?

The use of video has exploded on the web and is playing an expansive role in the way we learn, market, and communicate. Almost anyone can now shoot and post video, but professionally produced video speaks volumes about you and your company. However, professional video can be expensive, (up to $3-5K per day, plus post-production). BARK! Microstudios solves this problem through a video subscription model. Basic membership gets you up to 12 green-screen studio hours semi-annually to use in completing up to 8 videos. Introductory Membership starts at $3,495, resulting in savings of 60-90%.

Describe the nearest player in your field.

This is a new idea and model for video production, and no one regionally is doing this. There is a company in the Pacific Northwest who is pioneering and expanding this concept.

How are you different from that player?

The company in the Pacific Northwest appears to offer fairly templated approaches to their videos. We plan to offer more flexibility in the post-production and shooting process in order to deliver more customized videos.

How does this idea scale into a big business?

This model is repeatable and provides for multiple studio locations and/or franchise-like opportunities for expansion into other markets.

Why are you the one to run with this idea?

I have education and experience in both business and film production and have been managing my own production company for the last 7 years, creating award-winning work on a national level. I also have strategic business alliances that offer marketing opportunities.

What is a $5,000 experiment you can do to move your idea forward?

We have a studio location lined up and already own 90% of the equipment necessary to execute this plan. The $5,000 would allow us to purchase the remaining equipment and begin creating real videos for real customers - letting us refine the product and process and provide proof of concept.

This is a great concept, as I have first hand experience with the concept (obviously), but also from a marketing standpoint this is a concept that the professional market needs now!

The expertise, dedication and the genuine heart hehind this project will be the lead in its industry.

Why not just use a portable green screen and a lighting kit and go to your clients? There is really no need for a studio anymore unless you are using a hard set for news or commercials.
