What's the big idea?
Solar Leasing allows home owners to go solar for less! Similar to auto leases you only pay for the term you use the panels. We will offer $0 down and low prepaid leases. Blue Lake Solar installs, monitors and maintains the system. Leases can be transferred if the house is sold and at the end of the lease term the panels can be purchased, removed or leased again. Leasing allows home owners to overcome the hurdle of a large up front cost, gives them control of their energy budget, helps them realize immediate energy savings and all of the environmental benefits to going solar!
Describe the nearest player in your field.
The nearest players are SunRun, Sungevity and Solar City. They are the largest solar leasing companies but they do not offer their services in Michigan or the any other states in the region.
How are you different from that player?
Solar leasing is currently available in just a few states. We will focus on bringing our solar leasing to new markets in Michigan and the surrounding Great Lakes and Midwest regions where leasing is not currently available. We will also donate solar systems to non-profits in the areas we work.
How's the world different with your idea in it?
Solar energy is the power of independence! Why would we continue to import coal and pollute our great state when we can power our homes, businesses and cars with the sun! Blue Lake Solar will bring affordable, clean, and renewable energy to our region as well as create hundreds of local jobs.

Wow, a service like this would remove the initial investment that is a huge barrier for homeowners to adopt solar power. I am curious, though, how long it will take to become profitable while still providing consumers with an economical incentive to use your service.
Good luck, I think this would be great for the state.

Run with it, endorsed.

Have you checked out www.sungevity.com/ ?

Mr Richmond has already listed Sungevity in his remarks about competitors, why put their link on his Startgarden page? Have some class.

This looks like a terrific idea, and as much as I don’t want to endorse a Startgarden competitor, I must endorse this idea. Can you tell us how feasible your product is for the average homeowner in Grand Rapids with perhaps 3000 sq ft of space in their home? What are the caveats? For whom would you NOT recommend your product? Thank you for your time.
