Children’s Wallet Cards

Gorgeous, educational, nontoxic alphabet cards that not even my twin two-year old boys can destroy. walletcards.tumblr.com

What's the big idea?

Kids love to play with cards – credit cards, gift cards and flash cards – but most of those plastic cards are made of toxic PVC, and paper cards disintegrate in small children’s mouths. So I’ve designed a gorgeous set of extremely durable, non-toxic cards for very small children to play with. I describe these cards as indestructible.

There are 26 cards in the deck with cool, modern illustrations representing each letter of the alphabet. Great for strollers and busy toddler hands!

Describe the nearest player in your field.

A small set of products, mainly, cardboard stroller cards and whatever mixture of toxic and nontoxic gift cards a family can scrap together from their local stores and restaurants, or paper or cardboard flash cards (which, again my kids love, but destroy in seconds).

How are you different from that player?

These cards are extremely well-designed with quality materials made in the USA. Each card, and the graphics printed on them, can withstand child-induced breaking, scratching, bites, rips and tearing. No other paper or cardboard-based cards on the market can hold up like these.

How's the world different with your idea in it?

Our illustrator, Marc Martin writes, “Learning the alphabet and the value of reading is one of the most important steps a child will take towards understanding the world we live in.” These cards will allow young children to engage with the alphabet (e.g their mouths!) in a completely new, safe way.

Why are you the one to run with this idea?

I’m a stay-at-home Mom who knows how small children interact with the objects around them. I’m a former graphic designer, and interaction designer with seven years experience here in Grand Rapids, MI. I’m smart, tech savvy and business savvy too. I’ll take these cards from concept to realization.

Thank you all for your endorsements!  I still need a little financial help to cover the remaining costs of making this project transform into a sustainable business. Please consider spreading the word about this Start Garden project on Facebook, I need as many endorsements as I can get.
    Thanks and cheers!

The Kickstarter reward decks are on schedule and will ship out at the end of October :-) I requested the Start Garden funding to cover the costs of taking the Kickstarter from a one-off project to a full-fledged sustainable business. Only four hours left now. Thanks for the endorsements everyone!

I love love love this!!  Can we order them now?  Our little ones love chewing on my cards and it would be so cool to buy your non-toxic cards instead - and have a nice set of alphabet cards as a bonus!!  Love it!!

I just pre-ordered a set of these non-toxic, credit card-like, alphabet cards at www.walletcards.tumblr.com from this brand new company.  I can’t wait!  My kids will be able to chew on them until their heart’s content, sort them as they get a bit older, put them in their own wallets, all while the cards stimulate conversation about letters and sounds.  Love it!

I want some too! I need some like, yesterday. How do we order?

One of my bestest pals is still working on her startup business. Go clicky click and give her a hand eh? Unlike kickstarter, this doesn’t cost YOU anything.

    Cheers mates.
