What's the big idea?
Con Artist Crew is a local gallery, we showcase an array of contemporary work from up and coming artists, also artists that have established themselves in neighboring cities. Which include local performances in music, dance and multimedia installations. We work with local businesses to curate with in their space.
Con Artist Crew offers cost effective artist studio spaces as well as an art community to grow together. We reach out to local organizations by donating time as artists and art as therapy. Bringing the gallery, creative mind set, to those who couldn’t make it out to the gallery.
Describe the nearest player in your field.
With the growing art scene in Grand Rapids, galleries have come and gone, with only a few established galleries, like Lafontsee, Bryne bome, and Avenue for the Arts. With all these competitors, they still dont offer the array of work that has reached our gallery wall.
How are you different from that player?
Con Artist Crew offers a gallery space and artist studios to build a creative community with outreach programs to educate the public and create art experiences. CAC opens the gallery to artists to participate as curators. CAC reaches out to local businesses to curate the art in their establishment.
How does this idea scale into a big business?
With funding we will be able to reach a larger audience giving the capabilities to put local artist’s work on website. We will be able to host on-line gallery shows.
We see curating for local big business and offering art as therapy to large groups as taking the gallery and service to a new level.
Why are you the one to run with this idea?
As creatives we see the need for an updated view of contemporary art for the viewer, so we look at the gallery and community as being apart of it and not separate from it. We immerse ourselves in the lifestyle of art to gain a higher understanding.
What is a $5,000 experiment you can do to move your idea forward?
We have already gained community support and promoted ourselves and found success. We will be able to work on upgrading our website( on-line gallery shows including an app), gallery space upgrades, media kits to curate for local business and working with the local community sharing art experiences.
