What's the big idea?
Our idea is to become a trusted and approachable resource of knowledge and learning in the web industry. Our focus is on helping to create great developers empowering them in their work.
We have seen explosive growth in our efforts since launch in Feb 2012. We have produced more than 140 videos, gained 800 subscribers, with over 63k total views.
Our videos & website are accessible for free, and we are currently working to build support and interest through ads/sponsors. As we grow, we plan to offer additional services, such as premium subscriptions, on-location training, and workshops.
Describe the nearest player in your field.
While we believe that our model is very unique, one type of competitor could be The New Boston (thenewboston.org). We recognize that companies like Treehouse (teamtreehouse.com), Codeacademy (codecademy.com), and to a lesser extent, Khan Academy (khanacademy.org) have similarities to us.
How are you different from that player?
We are highly focused on the web development industry covering topics specific to benefit those working in development. From our perspective, the New Boston is more broad in its focus. We appreciate the Khan’s philosophy, but our topics and our pricing module (non-profit v we are for-profit) differ.
How's the world different with your idea in it?
We are producing accessible video tutorials to educate individuals on a wide variety of web technologies in order to empower our audience to implement their ideas and be more efficient and effective in their own line of work. The mission of Level Up Tutorials is to help web developers be their best.
Why are you the one to run with this idea?
We use a wide range of web technologies everyday in our line of work, and teaching others about new technologies is our passion. The explosive growth of our tutorials is evidence that we have a knack for taking a complicated technology and teach others via easy-to-understand and blocks of knowledge.

Hello Kyle, thanks for the question. All of our videos (and our website) are supported through advertising and sponsors. Not only would we like to grow that effort, but we currently exploring and may offer (potentially) premium subscriptions, on-location training, workshops, and maybe seminars- which would be have a cost.

* which would have a cost.
Pardon the typo above :) Thanks for your interest in the idea.

Ben, what you could do is have a video tutorial with a little test method designed not for memorization of codes but different ways of applying them on the side. What you have to watch out for is the fact that there is another website called code academy.

Thanks for the comment, Raj. We are very familiar with Codecademy (as we have mentioned them specifically above). They are doing fantastic work. Our idea (~150 videos strong) is currently focused on teaching proven developer tools and not language basics (like Codecademy’s HTML/CSS/JavaScript introduction courses).
