FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
START GARDEN FUNDS GARAGEMATCH.COM
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., October 2, 2013 -- Start Garden, the $15,000,000 seed fund that selects individual ideas each week for investments, today announced GarageMatch.com, which matches private individuals, who have extra space in their garage, with people who need storage, was selected by the public and Start Garden team from submissions to startgarden.com.
Garagematch.com will provide a place for individuals who have extra garage stalls and want extra money to list their space. Individuals who want to store a car, boat or other large object can find a convenient location to store their stuff. Garagematch.com will run a background check on both parties, provide electronic contracts, and serve as an escrow agent for collection and release of funds.
“GarageMatch.com is like AirBnB for garages,” said Laurie Veneklasen, creator of GarageMatch.com. “I have worked four years as an office manager for a large self-storage facility, the industry is topped-off, and charging top-dollar for available space. GarageMatch will free up new space, household or commercial items in basements or barns.”
GarageMatch.com was selected through the endorsement of the public and selection of the Start Garden team. The Start Garden management team accepts submissions through startgarden.com. Ideas with potential to become businesses can be submitted. Each week the Start Garden team selects an idea and the broader community on the website endorses another idea to receive $5,000. Start Garden can continue to invest up to $500,000 in a single idea. Learn more about submission criteria at startgarden.com/help/criteria.
The next round of $5,000 investments will be announced Thursday, October 10, after the noon deadline. The next Update Night is Thursday, October 24. Learn more about Start Garden events at startgarden.com/events.
