START GARDEN FUNDS PROGRESS, A WORKFLOW APP FOR SERVICE PROVIDERS
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., November 14, 2013 -- Start Garden, the $15,000,000 seed fund that selects an individual idea each week to receive a $5,000 investment, based on endorsements from the public and the Start Garden team, today announced Progress (strt.gd/x9sI), a single tool that allows service providers, like auto repair facilities, to interact and update its customers using a mobile application or browser.
Progress enables customers to monitor the status of their projects, but also request updates and pay their bills. Concurrently, service providers can trigger service jobs, request approvals, and submit estimates. The app is intended to reduce the time and effort communicating on a project. When a project is complete, users can save or share their experience.
Matt Kortering, creator of Progress, is targeting the automotive repair industry and will use the $5,000 from Start Garden to create a prototype and thoroughly test the app to get a comprehensive understanding of user behavior—both customers and service providers.
“We want customers to interact with one simple platform, while providing a full suite of communications options from service providers, like auto repair shops,” said Kortering. “The platform itself is intended to scale and be platform agnostic, so service providers in any industry can utilize it.”
Progress was selected through the endorsement of the public and selection of the Start Garden team. The Start Garden management team accepts submissions through startgarden.com. Ideas with potential to become businesses can be submitted. Each week the Start Garden team selects an idea to receive $5,000, based on the input of the public and their assessment of the idea and entrepreneur. Start Garden can continue to invest up to $500,000 in a single idea. Learn more about submission criteria at startgarden.com/help/criteria.
The next round of $5,000 investments will be announced Thursday, November 21, after the noon deadline. The next Update Night will also take place on November 21. Learn more about Start Garden events at startgarden.com/events.
