What's the big idea?

Breakupgoods.com is a mash-up of Pinterest meets Google for used goods. Not just any used goods, but those from a distressed or urgent sale situation. These situations are normally caused by events such as a divorce sale, estate sale, break-up, job loss, or moving scenario.

We have built proprietary programs and processes to not only find these “urgent” for sale goods from many classified sites, but created the ability to curate and specify the content by using a proprietary query system. This process of finding and sorting is then placed into one platform for users to view, search, & find.

How does this idea scale into a big business?

That’s means a lot of things to for sale at a good deal. With each listings we can take a small frictionless piece of revenue.

Why are you the one to run with this idea?

I was able to take this idea and launch a prototype, and then take that prototype to over 2 million users in 3 weeks. Since then, I have grown the team to 5 US team members and 7 international team members. I have continuously grown this company as technology allows.

What is a $5,000 experiment you can do to move your idea forward?

With a $5,000 experiment, we are able to inject into more dense marketplaces and maintain a working infrastructure. It would also give us the ability to conduct some outside marketing efforts and start gauging our metrics for higher populated areas. This data will allow us to better understand what particular cites are interested in and how to better maximum the user experience.

    Pretty interesting website. Is advertising your only revenue stream? Have you considered any other monetization? If you did win the $5000, are you using it to expand your website or just flip some vehicles?

    Thanks Steven! We actually have multiple revenue models. One of which is based on geo density, and item density (i.e. more of one particular listing in any specific area triggers listing fees). Regarding the $5K, flipping a few cars is always a good play to double your flow, but ultimately cash infusion is great for introducing new sectors or additional content APIs to grow item listings for our shoppers!

    Hey @Elias, we found that sellers will actually type in their reasons for selling and it’s those keywords we often find.
