What's the big idea?
ClipCleany is a glowing bean that fits most 1” dog leashes. It stores recycled bags, treats, money, wipes. The storage cavity is large enough to store recycled grocery, sandwich or bread bags or a small roll of standard biodegradable dog waste bags. It has a green light circumventing the bean for total visibility for the pet owner to be seen when walking with your pet when it is dark outside. A glow-in-the dark version is available for extra visibility.
Describe the nearest player in your field.
Bags on Board, they have an inexpensive plastic bone to hold only dog waste bag rolls.
PetSpot a Wallgreen’s brand that has a retractable leash with a small flashligt
How are you different from that player?
ClipCleany allows you to use bags you want, like recycled grocery bags or biodegradable sacks. The storage allows storage of money treats or wipes; no need for a purse or wallet when walking. The safety light/glow is integrated into the design which is less bulky than a stick on flashlight.
How does this idea scale into a big business?
After talking to 9 different local companies for sourcing, I have found a great distributor in Grand Rapids who is able to offer me really great piece price, terms and distribute it throughout the country. I have had in retailers interested in putting it on their shelves.
Why are you the one to run with this idea?
I am the creator and the patent holder who has beaten out over 2000 inventors in Whirlpool’s Mother of Invention contest and won 2nd place in the Green category. I also beat out thousands of inventors across the US to win a contract with Discovery/ TLC. I also had a contract with Edison Nation.
What is a $5,000 experiment you can do to move your idea forward?
I would like to do some market research to see if the market could bear a higher price point and to see which brand design is the most marketable. If I set up EDI, better branding, and structure the right deals will I get a major retailer to pre-order?
