Elevate Athletica

Elevate is an inspirational apparel and equipment brand for the disabled athletic sub-culture.

What's the big idea?

Elevate strives to be the “Nike” of the disabled athletic sub-culture. Our intent is to offer an inspirational brand to the growing number of disabled athletes around the world. Assistive technologies for disabled athletes evolve rapidly, but small businesses have trouble mass-producing and marketing their technologies. Through the licensing and purchasing of existing inventions, Elevate will bring these difficult-to-acquire technologies to the disabled masses. Through our apparel line and assistive equipment sales, Elevate will become the “go-to” brand for disabled athletes and adventurers.

Describe the nearest player in your field.

Disabled athletes experience no specific brand dedication. Able-bodied athletes are devoted to brands like Nike and Adidas because they cater to the high-performance athlete. Elevate is the only major athletic brand specifically devoted to the outdoor lifestyle of the disabled athlete.

How are you different from that player?

Our competition would include major brands like Nike and Adidas, but we are focusing on an incredibly specific market. Although we do hope to appeal to able-bodied customers, our mission is to develop apparel and products to assist blind climbers, amputee sprinters, and other amazing athletes.

How's the world different with your idea in it?

Go to Watch ESPN. Read Sports Illustrated. What do all of these outlets have in common? Images and stories of near-perfect human beings. Elevate will inspire and glorify the huge community of disabled climbers, runners, and athletes who use athletics as a way to prove their inherent worth.

Why are you the one to run with this idea?

This idea stems from deep involvement and serious connections in the disabled athletic community. Our network includes superstars like Erik Weihenmayer (climbed Everest blind, the “Michael Jordan” of disabled athletics), Kyle Maynard (congenital amputee, 2-time ESPY winner) and many others.

We’re back for our second week. We’ve updated the page with our new promotional video, edited our bio slightly, and are spreading the word about Elevate.

Great idea!  I know something like this with a tangible product will take more capital to get off the ground.
