Helo Shorts

The compression short made for boardshorts - Helo's are made from quick drying synthetic materials.

What's the big idea?

Helo shorts were created to be THE short to wear under boardshorts.  Most people wear something under their boardshorts, and whatever that something is, it probably stays wet long after their boardshorts are dry.  This causes itchiness and discomfort.  Enter the Helo short: made from recycled PET (aka plastic fibers) that retain minimal water and dry out incredibly fast.  Finally an undershort that dries as fast as your boardshorts.  Helo’s are great for any athletic activity that demands ventilation and moisture wicking performance with compression in all the right places.

Describe the nearest player in your field.

In terms of what people wear under boardshorts it ranges from Under Armour and Nike compression shorts, to Hanes boxer briefs and even the occasional “tighty whitey” brief has been spotted at the beach.

How are you different from that player?

Helo’s are made from recycled polyester which absorbs minimal moisture, while still providing moisture wicking away from skin. There is also a mesh material strategically placed in specific areas of our shorts for proper ventilation. Helo shorts are made in the USA and with Eco-friendly materials.

How does this idea scale into a big business?

This product line could be quickly expanded into multiple color ways and utilize recycled PET to develop product extensions like rash guards, pants, and compression sleeves. Helo can absolutely grow into a robust retail merchandise line.

Why are you the one to run with this idea?

We have a passion not only for running my our business but also for water sports.  Our passion for making a better product turned Helo from an idea into a product. Since 2009 we have sold thousands of Helo shorts to every state in the country as well multiple countries.  This is just the start!

What is a $5,000 experiment you can do to move your idea forward?

Helo would use the $5k to completely optimize our website which is our primary sales channel.  We would like to hire an ecommerce expert to help improve our shopping cart as well as streamline our SEO to increase our organic rankings for specific keywords.
